Legend was founded in 1989 in Northern Virginia, USA, by Bob Bates and Mike Verdu, after most of Infocoms employees were laid off earlier that year. In 1990 they released their first game, Spellcasting 101: Sorcerers Get All the Girls, which was an illustrated text adventure game (also known as interactive fiction with graphics), and in the years to follow, Legend produced hit after hit, all of them illustrated text adventure games.
Legend is yet another example of a company going downhill, while at the same time producing good games. A few things Legends adventure games are known for are (beside their trademark first person view) the rich storyline and high production values. It's no coincidence that so many Legend games feature such great storylines, as many of them are based on acclaimed books (Companions of Xanth, Gateway, Death Gate, etc).
