Could be the popularity of the game since the patch was just released and prob just ironing out some minor issues on their end methinks.

It's post patch lag dude.
It happens on EVERY MMO, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Anarchy Online, Everquest, Ultima Online, you name it, if it's ever patched, it'll have post patch lag.
Just wait awhile and the server will catch up again.

We got a new computer, and I'm reinstalling this because it's my favorite FPS to play online, the only thing is, the client increased from the old version's small 1 gig client to a freaking huge 2559.3 megabytes of space, it's taking a year to download, I really wish there was a faster way to download it. (even though it's going at 403kb/sec and hour and a half is still a long time for me).

i am not quite sure how this game is played. i mean do you play against humans or against AI and with humans? sort of Coop Delta force ?
also the site could change the game size:

i think it's over 2.5 GB and they have torrents now, so it should't be an issue to download it.
