Mind that, I?m yet to see the last ending possible, and hence yet to see the hardest boss, but the ones required for the first 2 endings are not that hard in comparison to what I saw in the ED.
I'd like to get your opinion on the hardest ending, when you get that far. In the meantime I'll play this Eternal Daughter you speak off - it sounds fun.

EDIT : After playing it for half an hour, I have come to the conclusion that I hate Eternal Daughter because of awful gameplay.
i second the bad gameplay opinion about eternal daughter. you basicly dont have the control that you have in "cave story"...

as for cave story, i have finaly gotten myself to what looks like the very end of the game. problem is that the boss('s) is one big pain!

I started the game from the begining and it worked fine... one thing though, I have not fought a boss more then 3 times and I always knew what to do againt them in orther to defeat them - Challenging, yes. 'Ridiculously tough'? A big no here.
a wonderfull game.

One question:
I'm not sure wich ending I got. so i'll post what happened after the final boss and if someone could tell me wich ending I got i'll be very happy.
so beware! spoiler!!! if you have not finnished the game yet, DO NOT READ ON!

Quote

after I killed the final boss the island began collapsing and shaking and all and the robot guy fell trough the sky and cought by sue's brother with the flying dragon...

which ending is it? the good one?

one more question:
How can I get that 'Spur' weapon? those it have anything to do with the blue mushroom guy?

Edit by Beef: Hid spoiler. Please do that yourself in future.

Gotta hate Monster X...

The whole game reminds me of a mix of Xexyz and Metroid Fusion.

where is curly?
I have towed her  out of the core room. and I've gotten her ot the little house with the computer. she woke up and then passed out again. I have not seen her since. did I miss some step?
or is she suposed to turn up later? I'm at the part with the rocket and all that lava (BTW, do I need some special item? or am I supposed to navigate with a booster?)

I believe...

When in the house, you have to go read a book from the bookcase to clear her lungs of water. After that, she comes with you and after you beat the fish boss the two of you drift apart, and then you don't see her again until the plantation.

There's a really good walkthrough site here. Try that, and you should be set.

great game!!!
could any one recommend anything that is like this game?
are there any other games from the same man available in english or different than japanese?

i give to this game a 5 and must desagree with the review about the extremely tough bosses (challenging but not extremely hard!),  and even if there is only one save point they are placed properly to keep on going on the game.
great great game!!!!!

well,
The Underside is the closest thing I know, but it's not ready yet (there's a demo).  As for stuff you can play right now, you could try AGwAK, or Eternal Daughter.

I resent the fact that nobody told me about this game sooner!
Hell of game!
Got that learning curve dooda down to a T, sir!
Start off requiring of simple moves and just keeps slipping in a little more an'a little more until you're bouncing and shooting, all kinds of wacky shizzazz.
Just enough to keep the challenge level up start to finish, yessir!
