Hey guys!
I was wondering, who here remembers the Moomins?
There was a "Moomin-night" at my school tonight, some kids from the art club held it. We watched couple of episodes, and they read from the books. It was so much fun! I remember those shows as a kid, but I didn't really like them. I mean, i watched them, but they were far from my favourite. Me and everybody there tonight laughed our arses off the whole time!! It was brilliant!!
There were some things.... sentences... like:
"GRANDMA! Don't say such a thing! It turns me on!!" ("gets me annoyed" and "turns me on" are the same words in icelandic)

They still broadcast that on German channels, like ZDF, I believe. And on some Dutch children network, too.

Yeah I remember them it wasn't that long ago that they showed them on some of local channels...
Now does anyone remember Tabaluga or something like that, it was a green dragon fighting that ice guy all the time...

DakaSha:if you go into a kindergarden and give all the kids rubber schlongs they will prob just hit each other over the head with them
DakaSha:and you have a class of little kids hitting eachother with rubber dongs which must be quite funny (also Picklweasel knight I am)

"Woah, whats with those freaky cows talking to that long-nose person and a kangaroo?!"

Its like what happens when you try to do anime, but fail...

A friend of mine once told me that the Moomins were written the same sort of Finland-Swedish that we learnt - our Swedish teacher happened to be from Finland, and apparently it shows...:D

I've heard two versions about the author. Either she's from a part of sweden that speaks finish (never heard of that part before  :D ) or from swedish speaking finland.

We call them Múmínálfarnir in icelandic; the Moomin Elves.

As far as I know, Tove Jansson is (or rather was) a Finland-Swede (i.e. one of a Swedish-speaking minority group in Finland). They speak a peculiar kind of Swedish, though: it sounds slightly different, and some of the words differ as well, apparently.

It's the most horrible accent a Swede can have in my opinion. Bleh. A friend of mine is turned on by it though so opinions differ...

For some reason we were told it's the most beautiful accent you can possibly have. Much better than any Swedish accent.:D

I have a feeling there would be a lot more Icelanders if someone would have fixed that long ago.
Today is a good day for pie.

It makes those making up after an argument moments even more confusing, I suppose.
