I usually make my own backgrounds, and just use a resource pic as a focal point

It looks like the cover of a comic book. Is that the intended effect? In that case: well done.

The text is a bit small methinks, and there's a bit of a gap on the right in that pale orange bit (you could probably kill two birds with one stone on that one by enlarging the text) and a border might be handy - just a single pixel line all the way around makes a big difference. If it were me, I might have moved the character to the left so that the gun barrel was in the centre of the image, since it's the focus, which also gives you lots of space to play with the text on the right. It's a really nice colour scheme though, ties together well.

Good point - I had to stop myself pointing out that you used "motive" instead of "motif" earlier, on the grounds that it didn't matter at all.

Sorry to correct you there, but as a matter of fact meanings 7-8 of the OED entry for "motive" cover the meaning of "motif". Plus, "motif" is a dead ugly word, which "motive" isn't.

Well, that shut me up! Hadn't realised that - motive being the original French word, makes sense I suppose. you learn something new every day - and you're right, it's much less ugly.

Sigs do indeed rock. Might get round to making myself a new one at some point - but I'd never be satisfied until it was as groovy as tai's

Wow, it´s been a while since I didn´t post on this site, I´m still making sigs, but the diference between the past and today are enourous. I still can´t believe that I couldn´t be an artist, and the respect that I´m gaining on other sites that I´m helping is incredible. Those tips were my first tutorial on sigs, if it wasn´t from here, I would de something else, but I´ll had the conscious that I would never be my child passion, an artist.

If you like to make sigs so much, you might consider helping out the site with reviews and the likes, and get a VIP membership. Once you have that, you are allowed to make Game Banners for the site

It's kinda like making a signature for a game, only a bit more advanced than a signature.

Banner making has really helped me to improve in Photoshop.
(Of course, if I hadn't recieved (and still do recieve) a lot of help from taikara, I would never have had the faith in myself to ever attempt anything like it.)
