i only checked the screenshots and they seem kind of lame. yet another adventure in some dark places...

didn't really convince me.

i would much rather see a FPS in some area with lights. same as i don't like horror movies which are only dark so that something or someone comes out of it.

i think it can also be scary even if there is no night or dark place. i mean didn't people ever hear about lights?!? that's why i liked Half life cause it only had some places that were dark as a result of some power failure, but most of it, it was quite bright.

also the story is a bit strange (at least what i read from it). as are the characters.

do they alway need to be some mutants zombies?!?! And no one arround to help you?

bah...

They're not mutant zombies, they're still entirely living human beings, they're just insane is all. Also the setting is the best I've seen in a next-gen game.

The whole story of the game is that you stumble upon an underwater utopia that everyone has forgotten about because the inhabitants all went insane because of the sole resource that drove the place to be what its creator intended to be.

Story=cool.
Setting=cool.
Graphics=cool.
Free art book=cool. (worth downloading)
Me owning a 750 mhz Pentium III=not cool.

...

I'm going to go play Deus Ex and System Shock 2 again.
I have been informed that today is, in fact, opposite day, and what you've written there is absolutely true so you should probably just go.

That's my man :unsure: ! Maybe Bioshock is very good, but nothing can beat climate of those two games, Deus Ex and System Shock 2 (ewentually first part). In my opinion, Bioshock have very good graphic and fantastic story. Other plus of that game are doubt...

I don't like the newest FPP, but Bioshock is good game and I have nothing against so that buy it and play :roflol:.

They failed to use the setting well in my opinion. I would have had it felt more isolated and dark, with MUCH larger areas, especially in those disconcerting rooms with the clear glass letting you look into the ocean (which was far too bright by the way).

The atmosphere could've been boosted 10x if they just decided to take away all the fancy lighting and made it a lot more dark, because it's kind of ridiculous as it is now.

Definitely right Pigggy, the game could've done a much better job with setting, wayy too much light going on, its definitely an above average game but Deus Ex and System Shock 2 are definitely still better.

I doubt anything will trounce Deus Ex or System Shock 2 until someone actually implements REAL RPG elements like those titles did, not these retarded "you can only pick one or two!" things liked Bioshock used, because quite honestly, that's just limiting the player and giving him two or three choices on how to play.

Indeed, with Bioshock it really didn't have those rpg elements, that were not as widely varied as DX and SS 2, when you just limit to one or two choices it does not really give much to do, they really should have added more, yeah it might have made the game more complicated or whatnot, but that way at least it gives it more chances to replay over and over, especially considering the two paths in bioshock are like polar opposites of each other and not really something that you can write home about or like super special, as it was hyped about.

DEFINITELY, and that's one of my main points to a ton of friends I know who open their mouths about the game. The actually choices in the game, be it moral or not, don't mean much, and only serve to creating different endings.

If anything, The Suffering did this FAR better, where they totally warped the actually backstory because of your actions in the game, actions by the way, that were a lot cooler and morbid than clubbing a little girl in Bioshock (gassing an poor chained prisoner for no reason or leaving a begging crying prisoner in a pit to be slaughtered by bizarre freakish creatures when you have a ladder right next to you, anyone?).
Quite frankly, I think Bioshock took stuff like that, moral choices (The Suffering), limited customization (STALKER) and "utopia-gone-mad" setting (System Shock 2 obviously, Vaun Braun) of other games and made a rather ambiguous mix.

Yeah no kidding its like the developers were thinking, gee lets make a super nice and fluffy and heart loving good ending and a super evil, cliche, all powerful character bad ending, c'mon so predictable.

I definitely need to play the Suffering one day, I've heard so much about it that really make it such a top notch game with what you just mentioned about the choice aspect of the game, from what some friends tell me. Bioshock is so much more limited in that aspect. I do think that yeah Bioshock wanted to cram as much as they could into the game with the elements of SS 2, Deus Ex, and Stalker, and hope that most gamers would feel that was enough.

I would have rather they take one of the main elements of the games that were listed and gone into further detail, and expand it much much more, yeah its limiting but on the other hand, your focusing on one core area of the game, that if you develop properly like the examples you listed and go in a different route or simply run a different way with it, chances are it'll be a lot more fun to play, rather than adding in everything and hoping the solution comes out modestly.

Too bad that on my computer Bioshock won't be willing to lunch. Then again will be necessary to walk on pals and playing on their houses ;P.

There is still one matter which causes that Bioshock is a good, rather than crucial game how they thought some "experts".

Don't you think that Bioshock is simply a next FPP game we have a thousands ? We have Far Cry, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty and more. Bioshock is unnecessary. Of course it's only my opinion.

I don't think it's unnecessary, it's a good FPS game by all standards, it's just that it's disconcerting to see how it's being praised for "unique" and "complex" gameplay, when in reality it's a shallow spinoff of other games.

Doesn't say much about the games being made, but says a lot about today's gamers who don't really recognize that BioShock is a paltry offering compared to say, System Shock or Deus Ex.

Its a nice looking game all around, but really what isn't these days. It also had some interesting ideas that it was trying to do, but yeah its definitely not as unique or complex or containing "rpg elements" as reviewers and many gamers have said.

When you look at the titles like Deus Ex, SS 2, and other more complex FPS/RPG games that actually have those two elements in their games, Bioshock was mainly trying to put a little bit of this and that into the game and hoped it would fulfill a lot of the gameplay elements that those two games had, but ultimately shot themselves in the foot with that. Plus considering that Take 2 says there will be sequels a la GTA series coming, that will be something to watch for, good and or bad, depending on what lessons the developers learn from this.
