I know this has been requested before, but I didn't see any crewmembers or admins post in the topic, and I checked on the games list and didn't see it there, so I figured I'd bring your attention back to it. Shadowbane, a MMORPG, has been re-released as freeware; just download the "trial version," make an account, and you're set to play for as long as you like. Note that the trial version isn't really a trial version at all - since it's now freeware, the trial restrictions have been taken off it to make it the full version. Hmm. Missed this one previously. I'm not generally a huge fan of PvP, but without too much grind beforehand it might be fun. I'll give it a try.

Edit: Checking out shadowbane.com doesn't look promising - it seems that this is commercial...

That's probably an old website - it's http://chronicle.ubi.com/ now. The only way to get it is FP now, though (although I could send you the installer if you like). I thought they might be charging your for the expansions still, but they're also included in the free download - their pages on the site are just a bit out of date

Well, I'm not going to pay even a dime for FP account for just one game! If you'd be so kind and send the installer (gmail must be only realistic option), I'd like to thank you. For some reason I'd like to try the game.

not to be anal or anything, but doesn't FP allow you to download things for free too? or are you saying you have time for MMORPGs but not a half-hour to stand in the line?

I think they charge you for setting up the account these days actually - lord knows why. Forgot to email you it - if you email me when you see this (or message me later) I'll be more likely to remember

did you look under the small white sign "free public servers"? (and the much larger banner "WHY WAIT? GET IT NOW", which advertises paid accounts)

so how much did you pay fr yours, if it's not a secret?   and why would they claim downloads to be free if you have to pay for them? isn't that flase advertising?

I didn't pay anything for it - I've got several from back when they were free. You might get one free with a game somewhere - anything which uses GameSpy for its internet multiplayer will let you sign up for a gamespy account, which should let you login to FP. Civ 4 is an example which I know includes it.

Please people, I got my FilePlanet account when I was 10 and I managed to figure it out in five minutes.

Just go to the link to download Shadowbane, it will give you a screen that says "Please Login to download files from FilePlanet" RIGHT below that it says "Some files require a Fileplanet subscription. Don't have an account? Click Here to Get One!"

Click on that, and it takes you to the free registration.

Yeah. When you were 10, the link on their front page didn't ONLY let you pay for the bloomin' things.

There you go Juni, should be doable from there. 's a fairly big file, so I'd rather not email it if you can get it from there - my connection's being hammered by Azureus and downloading the Supreme Commander demo atm.

EDIT: Yup, it is entirely possible to get a free one.
