Harmony took 8 years to make, and that dedication immediately shines through. The game is a beautiful replica of the early 90's First Person Shooter. The game is an FPS, but not in the "Modern" style. It's an FPS of the day when all FPS's where called DOOM Clones, after the ID software title. Harmony is a Doom clone in every sense! It's built on the DOOM engine, and features DOOM style movement and controls. If you're a fan of DOOM, there is plenty to like in this game. However the game is a total conversion - completely new story, monsters, guns, and levels. Nothing is recycled from the original DOOM.

The story is this: Mankind has fought WW3, and the game is set in a post-apocalyptic society where all men have become mutants (because of the use of a genetic bioweapon), and are attacking the female survivors. The women have formed a paramilitary (naturally called the Amazons) for their defense. During a mutant raid on the Amazon HQ, their leader, Amira, is captured. You, the protagonist, are her best friend Harmony. Your mission: save your leader and friend from the mutant army, also known as the Order of PAX POX.

The game play is excellent. The game's maker is well known in the DOOM Modding community, and the reason is evident in his interesting level design. The variety of weapons and enemies lends it a fast paced exiting atmosphere. The Soundtrack is good, but too short.  A new semi-official soundtrack had just been made.  More information about the soundtrack can be found here - http://www.doomworld.com/vb/doomworld-news/54941-harmony-now-with-more-harmony/

The negatives:
While long for a freeware game, the gameplay is so fun that 11 levels seem like too little. Also, as it was made by a dedicated DOOM player, it can be rather hard on Newbies.

However, I highly recommend you try it. If your "Modern" FPS friends try mocking the Retro Graphics, let them try a level or two. They'll be hooked right away.
